Details

Functional Sleeve Buttons: These are actually called surgeon cuffs. The functioning buttons allowed the doctor to unbutton the sleeve, roll up his sleeves, and perform surgery. Today that detail is often overlooked by suit makers. The main reasons being it is costly, time consuming, and the sleeves must be at the proper length (sleeve alterations are difficult to perform once buttonholes are cut). The surgeon cuff is a subtle nod to the past as well as another way to help you stand out from the masses.

Longevity

A well-fitted garment will last you longer. A proper fit ensures there is not too much tension in common problem areas which often wear out the fastest. This goes for shirts as well. Many times the cuffs, collars, or sleeves are the first to wear. While not only is a tight shirt collar uncomfortable, it can cause the collar to rub against facial hair and cause it to wear out more quickly. As far as sleeves we use a tighter cuff therefore, the sleeve does not fall beyond your wrist and there is some slack in the sleeve so the elbow is not constantly under pressure.
